Foundation for Professional Development (FPD)

FPD is a South African Private Institution of Higher Education established in October 1997 by the South African Medical Association. The mission of FPD is to ensure the availability of skilled professionals and managers who will be able to deliver a service to the public that is affordable, evidence based and congruent with international best practice.

Compass Project, an initiative of FPD, is based on the philosophy that an effective response to health and social challenges, specifically HIV in communities, requires a coordinated mobilisation of all resources. Compass Project activities include mapping of service providers, epidemiological quantification of service-delivery need, and organisational development activities to build the capacity of communities to respond effectively.
